Heralded as one of the best Catalan novels of the first half of the 20th century, La ‘Niña Gorda’ is an acerbic parody of La Ben Plantada by Eugeni d’Ors. With this work, Rusiñol crudely explores the idealism of Noucentisme, which sought to establish the foundations of a new state without taking into account the miserable existence of much of Catalan society.
