Anna Maria Ricart Codina a partir de Víctor Català

Sala Gran

October 28th – November 7th

A different perspective on the life and work of Víctor Català / Caterina Albert.

Forced to camouflage herself under a male penname to avoid scandals, judgements and prejudices, Català was a revolutionary playwright. The writer herself spent the last 10 years in her bed, where she even received visitors. A real declaration of principles. Who was really hiding behind the alias? La Víctor C. is an approach to the enigmatic Empordà-born playwright through her stories and writings.

The new production from Les Impuxibles promises to unsettle us again.

Harakiri seeks to free everything surrounding suicide from taboos and stigmas in order to see it as a rational option. On the stage, the place that allows the dead to relive and redie, an impossible meeting occurs between two adults who, one day, in a small universe, were mother and son. Is it possible for a mother to teach us more dead than alive? Is it possible for someone's suicide to make us freer?

With its own language that combines music, dance and text and always seeking activism through art, Les Impuxibles have also explored disorders and mental health in Suite TOC núm 6. and sexual violence in AÜC-el so de les esquerdes.

Els homes i els dies is the posthumous autobiography of David Vilaseca, where we find a powerful voice and provocative and stimulating literature.

22 years encapsulated in a diary. David Vilaseca captured his day-to-day life on paper from 1987, when he was 23 years old and a young student on an American campus, until 2009, when he was 45 and shortly before he died. Now, Xavier Albertí directs the theatrical adaptation of this revealing novel that turns the self, fears, sex and other personal experiences into high-flying literature.

“Often in life we learn the real reasons we do things over the fullness of time.”

A linguistically surprising production based on the myth of Europa and its current boiling point.

It is peculiar, and also revealing, that the myth of abduction and rape is what gives Europe its name. Today, those on the opposite shore make the same journey across the Mediterranean, abducted by the idea of Europe, and, along the way, suffer rape and extortion. Many die at sea and those who do make it are welcomed by denial of asylum and “refugee camps”. At times like this and, after so many -isms, how can we believe in the European Union without resorting to EU-phemisms?
